Marbled Chocolate Banana Bread

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup white whole wheat flour King Arthurs **
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 4 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup mashed bananas about 3 medium bananas
  • 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • cooking spray


  • Sift together flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  • In a large bowl, cream sugar and butter. Beat the egg slightly, and mix into the creamed mixture with the bananas. Mix in sifted ingredients until just combined.

For the Chocolate Filling

  • Melt the chocolate chips in the microwave in a medium sized microwave safe bowl about 1 minute. Stir until smooth. Then add 1 cup of the banana bread batter and mix with the chocolate until well combined.
  • Spoon chocolate batter alternately with plain batter into a 8 x 4-inch loaf pan coated with cooking spray. Swirl batters together using a knife.
  • Bake at 350 degrees for one hour and five minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean with no batter


*you can use two cups all purpose flour if you do not have white wheat flour
