Okay, can someone please explain how Thanksgiving is in just a few weeks?! Somehow the holiday season has just creeped up on me this year.  I feel as though it was just Halloween and now, suddenly the stores are filled with Sparkling Cider and all the fixings for Pumpkin Pie.

I have loaded you up with every pumpkin recipe imaginable but have completely forgotten about Christmas and Thanksgiving. So here is a fun little post to make it up to you.

Christmas is my absolute favorite holiday. I love the lights, the Christmas trees and especially all the baking. I will let you in on a little secret. I used to burn all my baked goods. If I didn’t burn them, I found some other way to mess them up. I would forget the flour, mess up the butter, and even use baking soda instead of powder. My older sister very patiently taught me how to make cookies, scones and even fudge. She is a fantastic baker. I try to make her proud now.

Unfortunately she is pregnant and won’t be traveling to see us this Christmas so we won’t be having our annual baking party together. I am still pretty sad about it but I have nominated Nick to be her replacement.  I have already started recipe testing. I absolutely love the Classic OREO Cookie Balls so I thought it would be fun to dress them up a little bit with some fun decorations.

These fun little snowmen are so easy to make and are the perfect addition to any Christmas cookie plates. Can you spot the angry looking one above? I have no idea how that happened but that one little snowman turned out to look so much more serious than the rest.

Here are a few tips for making the perfect snowmen!

  • Make sure to freeze your OERO Cookie balls before dipping! The cold helps the chocolate adhere.
  • Use almond bark or candy melts for dipping. It is easy to melt and reheat. Real white chocolate can be tough to temper.
  • A mug works much better to melt the chocolate in instead of a bowl. I always use it for candy dipping and it works like a charm!
  • Use a wooden skewer or lollipop stick to dip your OREO Cookie Balls. This makes it so much easier to dip them and shake off the excess without the mess.

Ingredients

Classic OREO Cookie Balls:

  • 1 Package 8 oz. Brick Cream Cheese, softened (I reccomend Philadelphia brand)
  • 36 OREO Cookies finely crushed (about 3 cups)
  • 4 Packages. 4 oz. each Semi-Sweet Baking Chocolate, melted (or White Candy Melts/Almond Bark if creating snowmen)

Decorating Ingredients:

  • Chocolate Caramel Candies
  • White Candy Melts/ Almond Bark
  • Lollipop Sticks
  • Small Orange Candies
  • Black Decorating Gel Tube
  • Thin Colorful Licorice

Instructions

  • Mix cream cheese and cookie crumbs until blended.
  • SHAPE into 48 (1-inch) balls. Freeze 10 min. Dip balls in melted chocolate; place in single layer in shallow waxed paper-lined pan.
  • CUSTOMIZE it: To make the hat for your snowmen, dip the lollipop stick into the melted white candy melts and coat the back of the chocolate caramel candy and place on top of the dipped cookie ball. Hold for 30 seconds. Using the same lollipop stick, poke a hole in the center of the ball and push the orange candy in to make the nose. Using a tube of black decorating gel, create two dots for the eyes and a few additional dots for the mouth. Place a thin licorice piece around the bottom of your finished snowman to make the scarf.
  • REFRIGERATE 1 hour or until firm.
  • Share and enjoy!

Notes

I wanted my snowmen to be a little big larger so I made about 30 OREO Cookie balls instead of 48.
