Super Sweet and Moist Marbled Chocolate Banana Bread , made with white whole wheat flour. So sweet and rich there is no need for a spread of any kind!

Wooo hooo! It might snow! Okay, so it will only be a 1/2 of an inch followed by a lot of treacherous ice but where I live this is a big deal. My 6-year-old gets out of school at noon today even though the “wintry mix” isn’t supposed to start until tonight. I know this must seem crazy to everyone up north but people just freak out down south when it comes to winter weather. In order to celebrate this weather event {yes, that’s what we call bad weather, “events”}, I figured I would bake some sweet and yummy Marbled Chocolate Banana Bread.

As we speak, Will and I are enjoying this banana bread, he’s washing his piece down with milk, I’ve got some coffee. He told me that I make the best banana bread ever  I know he’s only 4 but the boy does love himself some banana bread. And he’s not shy about telling me when he doesn’t like something; that’s for sure!

This Chocolate Marbled Banana Bread was inspired by my most popular Pinterest Post ever, my Chocolate Chip Banana Bread. Both are delicious but I’ve got to say this one is my fave so far. I love how the chocolate is marbled throughout the bread, it’s super sweet and has a great fluffy texture. I made this banana bread with whole white wheat flour making it a tad bit healthier than your average bread.

This bread is great on its own, no need to add any spread! Enjoy 

Marbled Chocolate Banana Bread

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup white whole wheat flour King Arthurs **
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 4 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup mashed bananas about 3 medium bananas
  • 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • cooking spray

Instructions
 

  • Sift together flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  • In a large bowl, cream sugar and butter. Beat the egg slightly, and mix into the creamed mixture with the bananas. Mix in sifted ingredients until just combined.

For the Chocolate Filling

  • Melt the chocolate chips in the microwave in a medium sized microwave safe bowl about 1 minute. Stir until smooth. Then add 1 cup of the banana bread batter and mix with the chocolate until well combined.
  • Spoon chocolate batter alternately with plain batter into a 8 x 4-inch loaf pan coated with cooking spray. Swirl batters together using a knife.
  • Bake at 350 degrees for one hour and five minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean with no batter

Notes

*you can use two cups all purpose flour if you do not have white wheat flour
